Regular Sessions - August

30/7/2013

The dates for the regular allotment sessions in August are as follows:-
  • Thursday August 8th, 2pm-4pm
  • Sunday August 11th, 10am-12pm
  • Thursday August 22nd, 2pm-4pm
  • Sunday August 25th, 10am-12pm
Activities: The recent rains have, temporarily at least, absolved us of watering duties. We are however well into the peak harvesting season with new crops becoming available each month - runner beans are just starting for example. As usual much general maintenance is required - weeding, mowing and trimming. We are still working on preparing several areas for cultivation next year and there are still opportunities to sow seeds for vegetables to be harvested in winter.

Everyone welcome. Please come along and help out, and share in the harvest.

NOTE. There is restricted access to the Avon Road site so if you are thinking of coming down, contact us so we can arrange to meet you at the gate to provide access.

First Potato Harvest

Picture
There is always a lot of joy at the first potato harvest. The dig for those edible golden nuggets brings out childish delight in all of us.

Picture
The result: Lots of lovely new potatoes alongside the more prosaic chard and kale.
